About

Hi! My name is Juan Fernando Atehortúa. I am a 4th year double undergraduate/master’s student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology double majoring in Mathematics (18) and Artificial Intelligence + Decision Making (6-4). My current research interests lie broadly in computer vision and geometric data processing. Last summer I worked at NVIDIA as an intern in the Autonomous Vehicles team, and this Fall I was interning at Google deploying unblurring ML models in the Pixel phone camera app. Previously, I’ve interned twice at Google in the LearnX and Project Starline teams. I’ve also participated in undergraduate research through the UROP and SGI programs with the GDP group at MIT CSAIL.

My academic interests also include low-dimensional topology, algebraic combinatorics, and applications of abstract algebra (such as geometric deep learning). I fence épée for the men’s varsity team at MIT, and I also love playing rugby union and chess.
